Dothan service manager participates in panel on women in trucking

Cindy Mathews, the service manager at Four Star Freightliner in Dothan, Ala., was one of six women to participate on a panel about women in the trucking industry during CX Week at Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) corporate headquarters in Ft. Mill, SC.

A significant amount of the conversation centered on the challenges that women face in the industry, and opportunities to raise awareness of those challenges. 

For example, when a truck driver brings his vehicle into the shop for service, they might immediately assume that a male worker is the manager. When in reality, it is the woman they they need to speak to.

The panel also discussed ways to attract more women to the trucking industry by highlighting the income earned as a technician, foreman and service manager compared to other career paths they might take.

Cindy is Four Star Freightliner's only service manager. She was joined on the panel by two technicians, two service managers, and a fleet manager.
