Four Star Freightliner Makes Donation Towards New Football Helmets For Lee High School
Four Star Freightliner Dealer Principal Jerry Kocan presented Robert E. Lee High School's football coach with a donation that will allow him to purchase five new football helmets.
Coach Tyrone Rogers, a former NFL player turned high school coach, said the donation does so much more than just providing protection on the field.
"I have some kids that need football more than football needs them," he said. They don't have to be the best football player. But we want to help them develop some type of discipline. We're trying to guide them in the right direction and help as many as we possibly can."
"Public schools used to be able to take care of those needs on their own," said Kocan. "But that hasn't been the case in the past few years. Four Star Freightliner was happy to help provide this need for the players."
There are 85 students on this Montgomery, Ala. team. Coach Rogers said he doesn't expect every player to receive a new helmet. But older ones will by cycled out and replaced by new Riddell helmets.
