Four Star Freightliner has been selected as the Alabama Trucking Association Workers Compensation Fund Safety Award Winner for the Allied Division. According to ATA, the award is based on the company's outstanding loss ratio, commitment to safety and willingness to consider and implement loss control recommendations.

Four Star Freightliner Dealer Principal Jerry Kocan accepted the award on behalf of his two Alabama dealerships. Four Star Freightliner has operated two dealerships in Dothan and Montgomery, Alabama for more than 17 years. One of the missions of Four Star is to provide an employee experience that develops and promotes the skills and talents of each employee.

Creating and maintaining a safe working environment is imperative to accomplishing this mission.
Four Star Freightliner assigned longtime employee Larry Harcrow to be the Safety Director, to ensure that all safety procedures are being followed and that no OSHA regulations are violated. Each Four Star location also has a committee that meets monthly to go over a safety agenda to ensure the dealership remains compliant.

The committee is charged with ensuring there are working fire extinguishers, making sure that no objects are in doorways, and that safety glasses are worn in the shop area. Four Star also created a safety handbook which requires the signature of each employee. In addition, each new employees is required to undergo online safety training. As a result of Four Star's safety initiatives there is new procedure for reporting accidents. All these factors have contributed to creating a "safety-first" environment at all Four Star Freightliner locations.
